Part of what we do at ESMS is staying involved with the Chester County Community, and this past week Cynthia wanted to share some of the rich history of where she grew up and lived her whole life.  She decided to take us, along with her sweet mother, Laura Ericson, on a field trip to the Brandywine River Museum of Art to broaden our knowledge and appreciation of Historical Chester County.  Before we visited the museum, Cynthia treated her mother, Ashley, and me to a delicious breakfast at Hank’s Place, a cute little restaurant in Chadds Ford.

After our delicious breakfast we headed to the museum.  There we saw that the main focus was the Wyeth family; artists including N.C. Wyeth, Andrew Wyeth, and Jamie Wyeth. We visited 6 different galleries; all were equally interesting and fascinating. On the first floor there was the Heritage Collection, on the second floor there was Andrew Wyeth’s plant studies: “Natural Selections” and the N.C. Wyeth Gallery, and on the third floor there was the Andrew Wyeth Gallery, the Bayard and Mary Sharp Gallery, and James Welling’s photographs: “Things Beyond Resemblance.” Even the museum itself was a work of art, with its curvature running along the river, and the huge windows that overlook the water and greenery.  The view was absolutely beautiful.

It is amazing that a very renowned artistic family lived right here in our back yards.  We did not realize there was so much talent and history that came out of this area.  We really appreciate Cynthia opening our eyes to the historic art.  She not only teaches us in the office, but she broadens our knowledge elsewhere as well.
